Virtual This Is Us Conference 2020 Goes FREE!
Today, This Is Us has an important announcement to make. We are making our conference completely free of charge to attend. This may seem like a strange step to make for some. But, we think that there are some very important reasons behind it. We’re proud to have made this step to make the conference even more accessible at a time when it’s needed most.
Now, it’s definitely no secret that the country’s economy is not in the best shape at the moment. As a result of this, more and more people are being made redundant. This is only set to get worse with the end of the popular furlough scheme on the horizon. Furthermore, increasing numbers of jobs and industries are feeling at risk in the long term, as they don’t know when they will be able to go back to ‘normal’ and full operational capacity. Being in the events industry, we have seen this happening first-hand, and know that it will affect people and businesses that we know personally and professionally.
So, it’s definitely fair to say that Covid has affected everyone in some way. Whether this is the loss of their job, a change in lifestyle, or wider changes in their industry, there’s nobody that it hasn’t touched. That’s partially why we’ve made the conference free. We want to open it up to those people who may otherwise not be able to attend. But, they still recognise the value and importance of continuing their professional development. After all, in a job market that’s getting increasingly competitive, it’s very important to stand out!
This Is Us Goes Free To Support Our Fellow Humans
However, that’s not the only reason. We believe that it’s more important than ever that we as humans support each other in the best way possible. This is where diversity and inclusion comes in. It’s vital that every single employee can have their voice heard. Mental health is also a top concern, with all these added stresses in our lives. And, promoting diversity and inclusion at work is one way to care for the mental health of your employees and ensure everyone feels safe at work.
Furthermore, it’s 2020. No matter what’s going on, diversity and inclusion should be at the forefront of every organisation’s recruitment and day-to-day running. Everyone deserves to have a chance on a level playing field. Diversity and inclusion ensures that people from all backgrounds get their chance to thrive at work.
While the economy isn’t at it’s best now, one day it will recover. So, we must be prepared to meet the demands of the ‘new normal’ and address employee concerns when it happens. Who doesn’t want their organisation to be at the cutting edge of diversity and inclusion, with that diverse thinking in place that truly makes them ahead of the game?
